The Foundation funded Ed Prideaux to pursue research as part of his Master’s degree into the drivers of distress associated with HPPD. The study may be read here.
Ed hopes that the study will contribute to knowledge of treatments and pathways to recovery from the distress and debilitation of HPPD. -
The HPPD Working Group is led by researchers at Macquarie University. Their findings suggest a shared vulnerability between HPPD and other perceptual disturbances like photosensitivity, phonosensitivity, tinnitus, and migraine with aura. The researchers remain active across multiple institutions and are exploring collaborations with Harvard and Johns Hopkins. To address growing clinical demand, they are seeking support to train a nurse practitioner who could provide assessments and generate long-term clinical data, offering a scalable model for care and future research. The Group are also seeking matching funds for a project of multi-modal neuroimaging of HPPD patients to understand the causes of the disorder in the brain.

We’re working with the University of Melbourne to develop an online psycho-physics screening tool that may help to determine if someone has unusual visual perceptual features, which may predispose them to HPPD if they decide to use of psychedelic drugs.
